Overview. Fayetteville is located in Washington County (05143). The population of Fayetteville changed from 73,973 in 2010 to 83,826 in 2016; a change of 9,853 (13.3%). The county population changed from 204,012 to 228,049, a change of 24,037 (11.8%) during the same period.

Fayetteville is located in the Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers, AR-MO MSA (CBSA 22220). The CBSA population changed from 465,345 to 525,032 during the period 2010 to 2016, a change of 59,687 (12.8%) Among all 933 CBSAs, this CBSA ranked 105th based on 2016 population, 47th based on 2010 to 2016 population change, and 30th based on 2010 to 2016 percent population change.

Race/Ethnicity. Based on the most recent ACS 2015 5-year estimates, the total resident population was 79,037. The population of one race include 82.0% White alone, 6.1% Black alone, 0.9% American Indian/Alaska Native alone, 3.6% Asian alone, and 0.1% Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander alone. The Hispanic population (of any race) was 7.3% of the total population. These characteristics are based on more detailed data in section 02.1 below.

Housing, Households, Economic Situation. Of the 36,398 total housing units, 33,063 were occupied housing units (households) or 90.8% of total units. Of the 13,275 owner-occupied units, the median housing value was $183,700. Of the 13,275 renter-occupied units paying rent, the median rent was $712. These characteristics are based on more detailed data in section 02.4 below.

Among the 15,175 family households, 11.2% had income below poverty level in the previous year. Among the total population, 24.0% had income below poverty level in the previous year. The median household income was $39,432 with median family income of $68,808. These characteristics are based on more detailed data in section 02.3 below.

Education. Of the 31,269 population 3 years and over enrolled in school, 6,601 were enrolled in grades K-8. Among the 44,426 population 25 years and over, 91.7% were high school graduates and 46.6% were college graduates. These characteristics are based on more detailed data in section 02.2 below.

Urban/Rural & Locale Code
The percent urban value in the Oveview is computed as the ratio of the population in urban census blocks to the total population in the area based on Census 2010 SF1.
