Overview. Frostburg is located in Allegany County (24001). The population of Frostburg changed from 9,009 in 2010 to 8,676 in 2016; a change of -333 (-3.7%). The county population changed from 75,021 to 72,130, a change of -2,891 (-3.9%) during the same period.

Frostburg is located in the Cumberland, MD-WV MSA (CBSA 19060). The CBSA population changed from 103,245 to 99,541 during the period 2010 to 2016, a change of -3,704 (-3.6%) Among all 933 CBSAs, this CBSA ranked 384th based on 2016 population, 890th based on 2010 to 2016 population change, and 851st based on 2010 to 2016 percent population change.

Race/Ethnicity. Based on the most recent ACS 2015 5-year estimates, the total resident population was 8,759. The population of one race include 81.2% White alone, 12.7% Black alone, 0.1% American Indian/Alaska Native alone, 2.9% Asian alone, and 0.0% Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander alone. The Hispanic population (of any race) was 1.0% of the total population. These characteristics are based on more detailed data in section 02.1 below.

Housing, Households, Economic Situation. Of the 3,522 total housing units, 2,998 were occupied housing units (households) or 85.1% of total units. Of the 1,287 owner-occupied units, the median housing value was $170,300. Of the 1,287 renter-occupied units paying rent, the median rent was $723. These characteristics are based on more detailed data in section 02.4 below.

Among the 1,295 family households, 12.7% had income below poverty level in the previous year. Among the total population, 31.7% had income below poverty level in the previous year. The median household income was $33,729 with median family income of $79,821. These characteristics are based on more detailed data in section 02.3 below.

Education. Of the 4,468 population 3 years and over enrolled in school, 696 were enrolled in grades K-8. Among the 4,175 population 25 years and over, 90.0% were high school graduates and 30.5% were college graduates. These characteristics are based on more detailed data in section 02.2 below.

Reference to "with ACS 1-year data" means that 02 sections of the report use ACS 1-year estimates (available area 65,000 population and over). Where there is no ACS reference, ACS 5-year data are used (available for all areas). Urban/Rural & Locale Code
The percent urban value in the Oveview is computed as the ratio of the population in urban census blocks to the total population in the area based on Census 2010 SF1. No adjustment is made for areas which may have changed boundaries since 2010. If the Census 2010 area geocode does not match to a ACS 2015 geocode, the percent urban is shown as NA.

There is no fee for these one-hour Web sessions. Each informal session is structured around selected topics. The open structure provides for Q&A and discussion of application issues of interest.
