Overview. Medford is located in Jackson County (41029). The population of Medford changed from 75,038 in 2010 to 81,636 in 2016; a change of 6,598 (8.8%). The county population changed from 203,410 to 216,527, a change of 13,117 (6.4%) during the same period.

Medford is located in the Medford, OR MSA (CBSA 32780). The CBSA population changed from 203,410 to 216,527 during the period 2010 to 2016, a change of 13,117 (6.4%) Among all 933 CBSAs, this CBSA ranked 205th based on 2016 population, 153rd based on 2010 to 2016 population change, and 137th based on 2010 to 2016 percent population change.

Race/Ethnicity. Based on the most recent ACS 2015 5-year estimates, the total resident population was 77,579. The population of one race include 90.5% White alone, 0.9% Black alone, 0.7% American Indian/Alaska Native alone, 1.4% Asian alone, and 0.6% Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander alone. The Hispanic population (of any race) was 14.0% of the total population. These characteristics are based on more detailed data in section 02.1 below.

Housing, Households, Economic Situation. Of the 32,209 total housing units, 29,751 were occupied housing units (households) or 92.4% of total units. Of the 14,977 owner-occupied units, the median housing value was $204,600. Of the 14,977 renter-occupied units paying rent, the median rent was $874. These characteristics are based on more detailed data in section 02.4 below.

Among the 18,967 family households, 17.0% had income below poverty level in the previous year. Among the total population, 23.0% had income below poverty level in the previous year. The median household income was $41,931 with median family income of $49,686. These characteristics are based on more detailed data in section 02.3 below.

Education. Of the 18,592 population 3 years and over enrolled in school, 9,091 were enrolled in grades K-8. Among the 52,263 population 25 years and over, 86.4% were high school graduates and 23.7% were college graduates. These characteristics are based on more detailed data in section 02.2 below.

Urban/Rural & Locale Code
The percent urban value in the Oveview is computed as the ratio of the population in urban census blocks to the total population in the area based on Census 2010 SF1. No adjustment is made for areas which may have changed boundaries since 2010. If the Census 2010 area geocode does not match to a ACS 2015 geocode, the percent urban is shown as NA.
