Overview. Rock Hill is located in York County (45091). The population of Rock Hill changed from 66,587 in 2010 to 72,937 in 2016; a change of 6,350 (9.5%). The county population changed from 226,923 to 258,526, a change of 31,603 (13.9%) during the same period.

Rock Hill is located in the Charlotte-Concord-Gastonia, NC-SC MSA (CBSA 16740). The CBSA population changed from 2,223,454 to 2,474,314 during the period 2010 to 2016, a change of 250,860 (11.3%) Among all 933 CBSAs, this CBSA ranked 22nd based on 2016 population, 16th based on 2010 to 2016 population change, and 40th based on 2010 to 2016 percent population change.

Race/Ethnicity. Based on the most recent ACS 2015 5-year estimates, the total resident population was 69,196. The population of one race include 53.9% White alone, 39.1% Black alone, 0.1% American Indian/Alaska Native alone, 2.3% Asian alone, and 0.0% Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander alone. The Hispanic population (of any race) was 5.3% of the total population. These characteristics are based on more detailed data in section 02.1 below.

Housing, Households, Economic Situation. Of the 30,101 total housing units, 27,431 were occupied housing units (households) or 91.1% of total units. Of the 13,749 owner-occupied units, the median housing value was $129,200. Of the 13,749 renter-occupied units paying rent, the median rent was $811. These characteristics are based on more detailed data in section 02.4 below.

Among the 16,510 family households, 13.7% had income below poverty level in the previous year. Among the total population, 18.6% had income below poverty level in the previous year. The median household income was $40,396 with median family income of $52,146. These characteristics are based on more detailed data in section 02.3 below.

Education. Of the 21,035 population 3 years and over enrolled in school, 8,390 were enrolled in grades K-8. Among the 42,755 population 25 years and over, 88.0% were high school graduates and 28.1% were college graduates. These characteristics are based on more detailed data in section 02.2 below.

Urban/Rural & Locale Code
The percent urban value in the Oveview is computed as the ratio of the population in urban census blocks to the total population in the area based on Census 2010 SF1.
