Overview. Arlington is located in Shelby County (47157). The population of Arlington changed from 11,522 in 2010 to 11,566 in 2016; a change of 44 (0.4%). The county population changed from 928,652 to 934,603, a change of 5,951 (0.6%) during the same period.

Arlington is located in the Memphis, TN-MS-AR MSA (CBSA 32820). The CBSA population changed from 1,326,399 to 1,342,842 during the period 2010 to 2016, a change of 16,443 (1.2%) Among all 933 CBSAs, this CBSA ranked 42nd based on 2016 population, 133rd based on 2010 to 2016 population change, and 447th based on 2010 to 2016 percent population change.

Race/Ethnicity. Based on the most recent ACS 2015 5-year estimates, the total resident population was 11,635. The population of one race include 78.4% White alone, 12.9% Black alone, 0.0% American Indian/Alaska Native alone, 2.1% Asian alone, and 0.0% Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander alone. The Hispanic population (of any race) was 5.2% of the total population. These characteristics are based on more detailed data in section 02.1 below.

Housing, Households, Economic Situation. Of the 3,382 total housing units, 3,246 were occupied housing units (households) or 96.0% of total units. Of the 2,797 owner-occupied units, the median housing value was $214,700. Of the 2,797 renter-occupied units paying rent, the median rent was $1,751. These characteristics are based on more detailed data in section 02.4 below.

Among the 2,940 family households, 1.8% had income below poverty level in the previous year. Among the total population, 3.4% had income below poverty level in the previous year. The median household income was $93,000 with median family income of $95,885. These characteristics are based on more detailed data in section 02.3 below.

Education. Of the 4,219 population 3 years and over enrolled in school, 2,377 were enrolled in grades K-8. Among the 6,430 population 25 years and over, 94.1% were high school graduates and 38.3% were college graduates. These characteristics are based on more detailed data in section 02.2 below.

Urban/Rural & Locale Code
The percent urban value in the Oveview is computed as the ratio of the population in urban census blocks to the total population in the area based on Census 2010 SF1. No adjustment is made for areas which may have changed boundaries since 2010. If the Census 2010 area geocode does not match to a ACS 2015 geocode, the percent urban is shown as NA.
