Overview. Atascocita CDP is located in Harris County (48201). The population of Atascocita CDP changed from 317 in 2010 to 310 in 2016; a change of -7 (-2.2%). The county population changed from 4,108,308 to 4,589,928, a change of 481,620 (11.7%) during the same period. Atascocita CDP is not located in a CBSA.

Race/Ethnicity. Based on the most recent ACS 2015 5-year estimates, the total resident population was 70,773. The population of one race include 66.9% White alone, 21.7% Black alone, 0.2% American Indian/Alaska Native alone, 2.7% Asian alone, and 0.6% Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander alone. The Hispanic population (of any race) was 23.9% of the total population. These characteristics are based on more detailed data in section 02.1 below.

Housing, Households, Economic Situation. Of the 22,875 total housing units, 21,812 were occupied housing units (households) or 95.4% of total units. Of the 17,327 owner-occupied units, the median housing value was $157,100. Of the 17,327 renter-occupied units paying rent, the median rent was $1,295. These characteristics are based on more detailed data in section 02.4 below.

Among the 17,897 family households, 5.6% had income below poverty level in the previous year. Among the total population, 6.1% had income below poverty level in the previous year. The median household income was $84,982 with median family income of $92,193. These characteristics are based on more detailed data in section 02.3 below.

Education. Of the 22,420 population 3 years and over enrolled in school, 11,532 were enrolled in grades K-8. Among the 44,015 population 25 years and over, 92.0% were high school graduates and 33.9% were college graduates. These characteristics are based on more detailed data in section 02.2 below.

Urban/Rural & Locale Code
The percent urban value in the Oveview is computed as the ratio of the population in urban census blocks to the total population in the area based on Census 2010 SF1. No adjustment is made for areas which may have changed boundaries since 2010. If the Census 2010 area geocode does not match to a ACS 2015 geocode, the percent urban is shown as NA.

Local code (defined by the Department of Education):
where UA: Urbanized Area; UC: Urban Cluster; PC: Principal City
11 = City, Large: area inside UA & inside PC & population >= 250,000.
12 = City, Midsize: area inside UA & inside PC & population 100,000-250,000.
13 = City, Small: area inside UA & inside PC & population < 100,000.
21 = Suburb, Large: area outside PC & inside UA & population >= 250,000.
22 = Suburb, Midsize: area outside PC & inside UA & population 100,000-250,000.
23 = Suburb, Small: area outside PC & inside UA & population < 100,000.
31 = Town, Fringe: area inside UC that is <= 10 miles from UA.
32 = Town, Distant: area inside UC that is 10-35 miles from UA.
33 = Town, Remote: area inside UC that is > 35 miles from UA.
41 = Rural, Fringe: non-urban area <= 5 miles from UA & <= 2.5 miles from UC
