This section is focused on American Indian, Alaska Native and Hawaiian Home Land areas, as defined for Census 2010, and associated demographic-economic characteristics. As of Census 2010, the combined population of these areas in the 50 states was 4,841,975. View, rank, compare, query characteristics using the national scope interactive ranking table below.

Use codes in the table to access/analyze demographic-economic characteristics for these areas using the Situation & Outlook (S&O) Server. See example below for Navajo Nation. Access multi-sourced subject matter from Census 2010, ACS 2010 and ACS 2011; display/analyze integrated data.

Ranking Table Usage Notes
Use the vertical scrollbar at far right in table to scroll across (up/down) areas/rows.
Optionally sort on selected column or view only areas in one state then sort ...
  • Click on column header to sort on that column; click column header again to sort in other direction.
  • Click ShowAll button to show all areas and restore full set of data view.
  • Click State to view districts in a selected state (click ShowAll between selections).
  • Find by Name: key in partial area name in text box to right of Find-in-Name button
then click button to locate all matches (case sensitive).
  • See related ranking tables.

Areas included in the table correspond to Census 2010 summary level 280 and are comprised of American Indian, Alaska Native and Hawaiian Home Land areas by state part (see part column). Only by using the state part list is it possible to 1) enable query/filter by state and 2) show the 5-digit AIANHHFP code (see column headers below). The 4-digit AIANHH code (see column headers below) can be used to uniquely (irrespective of state part) identify the area.

For example, click Show All and then Find in Name button below the table and three Navajo rows appear showing Navajo Nation by state part. Note that AIANHH code 2430 is the same for all three parts but the AIANHHFP code is different by state part.
