Census 2000 Retabulated for Current State Legislature Boundaries

States recommended after Census 2000 that the Census Bureau maintain legislative districts as part of the Census Bureau TIGER data base. To meet this recommendation, the post-Census 2000 redistricting plans were collected as part of Phase 1 of the 2010 Census Redistricting Data Program.

Census has completed Phase 1 of the 2010 Census Redistricting Data Program and is releasing (as of 1/5/2007) the retabulation of Census 2000 data (100% and sample) for the current boundaries of all state legislatures, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia.

The re-tabulated data may be accessed via FactFinder.

  2010 Census Redistricting Data Program

The 2010 Census Redistricting Data Program Phase 1: State Legislative District Project commenced in February 2005. In January 2005, the Census Bureau sent letters to the Governor and legislative leadership of each state asking them to name a nonpartisan liaison to work with the Census Bureau on the 2010 Census Redistricting Data Program. The Federal Register notice and related information regarding the 2010 Census Redistricting Data Program is located at http://www.census.gov/rdo/www/
