ProximityOne demographic estimates and projections provide comprehensive and up-to-date demographic data for wide-ranging analysis and decision-making. New estimates and projections incorporate results of Census 2010 and the American Community Survey (ACS).

Census 2010 data, unlike Census 2000 data, do not provide data on socioeconomic characteristics of the population. Data from ACS 2010 5-year estimates (available December 2011) are centric to mid-2008. No current estimates of the socioeconomic characteristics of the population are or will be available from Census 2010 or ACS. We utilize Census 2010 and ACS data to develop current estimates as of July 2010 with annual estimates/projections to 2016 and beyond.

Time Periods and Updates
Three types of estimates and projections are developed annually. The estimates and projections are integrated but developed for different time periods, scope of subject matter and type of geography. Current estimates are revised from previous period.

Geography
Estimates and projections are revised annually for geography that updates annually or periodically: cities, school districts, metropolitan areas. Scope of geography included in above table are further described below.
Tracts+ United States, states, metropolitan areas, counties, cities/places, school districts, county subdivisions, ZIP code areas, census tracts
County+ United States, states, metropolitan areas, counties

Methodology
ProximityOne demographic estimates and projections are developed using holistic demographic-economic models. Annual time series simultaneous equation models are used that specify cause and effect relationships among jointly dependent variables. Model estimation uses the most recent official current/historical data and estimates. Model specifications, including assumptions, are set to reflect regional variations and new developments that evolve.

Availability, Access & Analysis
Selected estimates and projections, for several types of geographic areas, are available in interactive ranking tables, integrated with Census 2010 & ACS data, no fee, no registration. The same set of data, organized in MySQL, available for interactive use on the ProximityOne Web site. The MySQL server (and other SQL servers) tables and associated basic interactive access/analysis software available at no fee through registered organizations (ProximityOne partners and predominantly universities, government agencies and school systems) and intended to facilitate easy integration with other data.

Access to the full set of 2010-2016 estimates and projections is supported in several ways on a fee basis.

Note: in the following descriptions, reference to "<2010 or current year>" means that the user can select the data for the year 2010 or any year 2011 through 2015.

Additional Information
ProximityOne develops geographic-demographic-economic data and analytical tools and helps organizations knit together and use diverse data in a decision-making and analytical framework. We develop custom demographic/economic estimates and projections, develop geographic and geocoded address files, and assist with impact and geospatial analyses. Wide-ranging organizations use our tools (software, data, methodologies) to analyze their own data integrated with other data.

Please use the Contact Proximity form or call us at (888) 364-7656 for more information about the Situation & Outlook estimates and projections ... or custom estimates, projections, analyses for your areas of interest. Add 'estimates and projections' in text section and any details relating to your specific interests (scope/type of geography and subject matter).
