Education Decision Making Information Consortium Join the Education Decision Making Information Consortium (EDMIC) and take advantage of the this unique program providing access to education decision making information resources. Benefits There are two types of benefits that accrue to members. First, there is the set of "application benefits." The application benefits are derived from making use of the member resources that cannot otherwise be achieved. Second, there is the set of "material benefits." The material benefits are the products and services made available to members. Application Benefits Unique ability to assess the state of education Unique ability to compare/contrast districts and regions Integrated data enabling more holistic analyses Standardized data enabling comparison of districts across state lines Current data enabling an up-to-date look at trends and the current situation Trend analysis enabled data enabling many types of supplemental modeling Geospatial analysis enabling decisionmakers to visually analyze data implications Material Benefits. EDMIC members may make use of any of the Consortium resources that include: 1. Census 2000 School District Special Tabulation - Children's Demographics Database (SDSTCDD) - School District GeoDemographic Database (SDSTDPD) 2. School District Demographic Estimates and Projections (annual updates, time series) [see description] 3. School District Reported Data (annual, time series) [see description] - District Students, Staff, and Facilities - District Revenues, Expenditures, Capital - School Students, Staff, and Facilities 4. Data Integration, Access and Analysis Tools - dBMerge for data integration - Integrated data online (Proximity Web server-based access items 1-4) - Web-server software and database: use and augment on your server (see example) 5. Support Services - Technical and applications support: telephone hotline and e-mail - Web-based technical and applications (best practices methodologies) How to Join EDMIC Choose the membership category that best meets your needs. Membership Categories. There are several categories of EDMIC membership. Each category is based on the size, program, and location of an institution. They are as follows:
Type of Site. Memberships are further categorized by "Type of Site." The type of site attribute parallels the concept of single user versus site licensing. A "Center" is defined as an operating unit within a larger company or institution. A Center site has one point of contact. An "Enterprise" is defined as all operating units within the larger organization. An Enterprise site can have multiple points of contact. As an example, within a university, the College of Education would be a Center site whereas all departments and units of that University (campus) would be considered as an Enterprise site. University campuses operating independently in multi-campus systems are considered separate entities. Smaller organizations will generally be categorized as qualifying for the Center site rate schedule. Membership Fees. The membership fee level applies to a calendar year. Memberships are anniversary date based. For example, a membership started in August 2003 would run through August 2004 and have fees shown in the table for 2003.
f represents a scaling factor with values 1 to 2 depending on size of state as measured by number of districts. Contact Proximity for the scaling factor value for specific states. Complete this Form to Join. We will contact you to discuss questions and membership details. School District Demographic Estimates and Projections The School District Demographic Estimates and Projections are updated annually. The data are maintained as a time series. The scope of subject matter includes total resident population, enrolled, enrolled public, enrolled private, and not enrolled. Additional subject matter detail is provided. The methodology used to develop estimates and projections makes use of cause and effect modeling that makes use of data including U.S. Postal Service delivery data, school and school district administrative data, related estimates and projections for cities, places, an other local area geography. These data are supplemented with other data and information regarding actual and expected growth or change in housing. School District Reported Data The School District Reported Data are an annual time series from 2000 forward that correspond closely to data items collected for the U.S. Department of Education National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) Common Core of Data program. These data are collected from state departments of education for individual schools and school districts. The scope of these data include both administrative and fiscal data. One main difference in the data as provided via the EDMIC as compared the NCES is that the data are available in most cases as much as one year earlier. Unlike the NCES CCD data, the data are maintained in a time series and may be used by members in time series analyses. [goto top] | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
