Envisioning Information Visually-based decision-making tools enormously expand our ability to assess and interpret the DMI landscape. The fundamental concept of the power and results from visual analysis has existed for centuries. Look around the room where you are located and imagine how much information you are visually absorbing. It would be almost impossible for you to "write down," "key in," or otherwise record the data and information that you can absorb visually in even one minute. Visual analysis tools and methods might be thought of existing in two tiers (or more). Expansion of computer and communications technologies now make visual analysis tools like mapping, charts, graphics more powerful than could have even been conceived of just 25 years ago. Yet, we are not able to institutionalize many of these tools. Despite the fact that mapping applications are not only very affordable but can also save on time and costs, there are often inaccessible to leadership in both private and public sector organizations. This is the tier one capacity of visual analysis. A "tier two" of visual analysis is more difficult to define. Back to the example of data and information absorption as we look around the room, our minds store data, patterns, and relationships in a manner that cannot be emulated by today's computer and communications technology. It is not so much a problem of speed and capacity but rather the assembly and interpretation of the data and information. We help organizations develop improved visually-based decisionmaking resources and deploy them in ways to achieve optimal benefit. Please contact me to discuss your situation.
