MetroDynamics: Database and Updating The MetroDynamics (MD) database contains integrated, multi-sourced geographic, economic and demographic data for all U.S. metropolitan and non-metropolitan areas. While the focus of MD is on metropolitan area analysis, the MD database has national data coverage for states, metros, counties, places, and census tracts. Scope of the subject matter varies by type of geography as further described in this document. Data are sourced from major Federal statistical agencies including the Bureau of the Census, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Bureau of Economic Analysis and many other entities. Proximity develops additional subject matter. MD data are structured in a database so that they can be easily updated, integrated with other data, and flexibly accessed. The MD software is used to organize, manage, and access these data in a manner that meets a wide range of application needs. Users may optionally access the databases with their own software.
