The demographic-economic behavior of an area does not happen in a vacuum. It is important to understand the make-up and dynamics of the area around us. What is similar or dissimilar in the broader or adjacent area? Which of these patterns or characteristics might impose challenges or limitations on reaching goals? What are reasonable goals, suggested by analyzing these data, that might be achieved? In what time frame?
Data presented in this report are based on the most recent demographic-economic data released in December 2012 for all U.S. national scope political/statistical geographic areas irrespective of size. The report provides data on more than 600 demographic-economic subject matter items, a comprehensive overview, for the area organized into four structured Demographic-Economic Profiles (DP). Selected highlights from each of these four profiles are presented in the Summary section.
Using this Report. This comparative analysis report has been developed to faciliate strategic planning and comparision of multiple areas. The report is comprised of this section followed by a summary/highlights section and the four DP profile sections. Each of the four DP profiles are subdivided into two or three component pages. Use the links at the top of any page to navigate to the DP profile section of interest. DP1 starts with link 1.1 followed by 1.2. DP2 starts with link 2.1 followed by 2.2. Other profile pages are numbered accordingly.
Each page shows data item descriptive stubs on the left and two columns for the primary area in a side-by-side structure with two comparison areas. A typical design is a school district as a primary area, corresponding county as comparison area one and corresponding state as comparison area two. The data item descriptive stub provides a data item reference (e.g., D001) followed by a short description (e.g, Total Population). Each page is structured so that it may be printed using the browser print operation.

Sources. This report has been developed by ProximityOne (http://proximityone.com) based on data from the Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2011 5 year estimates (more about ACS 2011 used in the report) and related data. Except as noted, all demographic-economic data are from the ACS 2011 5-year estimates. The only Census 2010 item in the report is total population.
Additional Notes. The ACS 2011 5-year estimates are based on a sample survey. The estimates are subject to sampling and other errors of estimation. Having used these data extensively, it is our judgement that these estimates are quite accurate.
