This section describes items in three types of school district ranking tables. To use the ranking tables, click on column header for different sort view; click same column again for reverse sort direction. Internet Explorer recommended.

Ranking Table 1 -- Census 2000 demographics ranking table

Columns in this table
Name -- School district name
Code -- Federal school district code: state FIPS code + 5-digit school district code

Census 2000 subject matter items:
  TotalPop -- total population (dp1001)
  5-17 Yrs -- population ages 5 to 17 years (dp1001-dp1018-dp1004)
  RCNE517 -- age relevant population not enrolled in school to school district within age range 5 to 17 years
  %RCNE517 -- RCNE517 as a percent of population ages 5 to 17 years
  %White -- percent White - total population of one race (dp1027/dp1026)
  %Black -- percent Black - total population of one race (dp1028/dp1026)
  %Latino -- percent Latino ((dp1052+...+dp1056)/dp1001)
  %HSGrad -- percent high school graduate (dp2015)
  %CollGrad -- percent college graduate (dp2016) -- premium US table only

Notes: RCNE517 value of -1 indicates item not tabulated due to small population size.

Only districts for which ESEA Title I 2005 demographic estimates were developed appear in these tables
(thus excluding districts that existed as of Census 2000 but no longer exist by that code).

For districts that are new/different as of 2005 (relative to Census 2000; new/different school district code), Census 2000 and related fields contain '...'.

Examples ... in New York, Canisteo school district (3606450 as of Census 2000) merged with Greenwood school district (3612930 as of Census 2000) forming Canisteo-Greenwood school district (3600124 as of 2005 estimates). In the trends ranking table, Canisteo-Greenwood is shown and no Census 2000 data are shown (get these data from Ranking table 1 containing Census 2000 school districts).

In Arizona, Kingman school district existed for Census 2000 and 2005. But as of Census 2000, it was Kingman Elementary (0404140) and as of 2005 it was Kingman Unified (0400295). In the trends ranking table, Kingman Unified is shown and no Census 2000 data are shown as the school district code changed and the district was reconfigured relative to grades offered (get Census 2000 data from Ranking table 1 containing Census 2000 school districts).
