Important public use geostatistical data made by Federal statistical agencies is often difficult to learn about, let alone access. The Demographic Economic Data Explorer (DEDE) provides a Gateway to the Federal Statistical System, enabling users to more easily learn about, access and use these data.

DEDE is a Windows-based software tool developed, maintained and supported by ProximityOne providing a solution to these issues. DEDE is used to develop standardized demographic-economic datasets that can be easily merged for use with other user application software. The user selects the statistical program, time-frame, specific type and scope of geography and specific subject matter (fields) to be extracted via the DEDE user interface. Datasets are created in GIS friendly dbase structure and Excel. DEDE makes use of Application Programming Interface (APIs, see below) that makes for a small footprint on your computer. DEDE is updated weekly helping to insure to most recent data are available. DEDE can also be used to develop the Situation & Outlook and Insights reports that integrate data from these diverse resource to consume as HTML/Web document and spreadsheet files. This section provides information about the scope and use of DEDE.

DEDE updates frequently; run the DEDE installer to use the most recent version. See updates section below

See the Topics section below for guided access to topics of interest.

While a primary purpose of DEDE is to develop data files, extracted from larger databases, DEDE also creates custom reports, Situation & Outlook (S&O) report and Comparative Analysis report, examples shown below.
