Instead, its "programs" are its various data collections and statistical reporting initiatives that provide comprehensive information about crime, criminal offenders, victims, and the justice system.

Victimization

National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS): The nation's primary source of information on criminal victimization. This large-scale, ongoing survey collects data on crimes that may not be reported to police.
National Survey of Crime and Safety (NSCS): A household survey that gathers information on community safety, policing, and experiences with victimization and crime.
Survey of Prison Inmates (SPI): A periodic, cross-sectional survey of the state and sentenced federal prison populations to produce national estimates across various domains, including demographic characteristics and criminal history.
Survey of Inmates in Local Jails (SILJ): A periodic survey that gathers data on the characteristics of jail inmates.

 

Law Enforcement

Census of State and Local Law Enforcement Agencies (CSLLEA): A data collection program that provides comprehensive data on the number of agencies, personnel, and functions of state and local law enforcement in the U.S.
Law Enforcement Management and Administrative Statistics (LEMAS): A data collection that provides information on personnel, salaries, budgets, training, and other administrative topics.
Federal Law Enforcement Agency Deaths in Custody Reporting Program (FDCRP): Collects data on the deaths of persons in the custody of federal law enforcement agencies.
