Geocoding is the process of determining and assigning a latitude and longitude to a street address.

Geocoding in VDA is started using the Tools>Geocoding feature. Clicking that option opens a geocoding address box that

contains the addresses to be geocoded.  To geocode a set of addresses, type in the full address or paste in a set of addresses to the address box. Then click the Run button.  The addresses are coded on the server side, the address point shapefile is added to the Legend Panel and the geocoded points are displayed

in the Map Window.

Try these four addresses. Copy the 4 lines and paste (Ctrl-V) in the Geocode box.  Click Run button.

15537 Valley Vista Blvd, Encino, CA 91436

16110 Meadowview Dr, Encino, CA 91436

16174 Woodvale Rd, Encino, CA 91436

1187 Royal Oak Rd, Encino, CA 91436

The addresses are geocoded, "Gecoding" file is placed at top of Legend Panel and points are displayed in Map Window.

View the point by keying in "Encino, CA" in the Searchbar (above map) and press Enter.  The map shows the locations.

Saving the Results

Save the results to your local computer by using the "File>Userfile Download" with the "Geocoding" file name highlighted in the Legend Panel.

After the file is created, save all 5 files to the appropriate folder.

Now add the file to the project of choice.
