Use ZIPLocator to help determine if sales are proportionately distributed among larger markets. Find out if you are reaching the broader market area objectives. ZIPLocator is an integrated program and database used to find the state, metropolitan area, and county where a ZIP code is located. ZIPLocator can be used in a look-up or batch file processing mode. By having the metro area codes integrated with your data, you can assess which markets you are reaching. ZIP Code Lookup. Lookup a ZIP code type typing it in the ZIP Lookup edit box. The following items are displayed: ZIP code population 2003 vintage Metropolitan Statistical Area name, code and population 1999 vintage MSACMSA name, code and population 1999 vintage PMSA name, code and population County name, state and county codes, and county population Population data are from Census 2000. Batch File Processing. Use ZIPLocator to code your ZIP code-oriented data file with the 2003 and 1999 vintage metropolitan area, state, and county codes. To perform this operation click on the Process button (shown at the cursor in the above graphic). Specify file name containing the ZIP code to be processing in the File edit box. The file is a fixed-length field ASCII text file with one record for each ZIP code. Specify the start position of the ZIP code in the input record in the ZIPStart@ edit box. Specify the insert start position for CodeString in the output record in the Insert@ edit box. Click on Process button to start processing. The CodeString is an 18 character string comprised of the codes for each area where the ZIP code is located: For example, in the match of ZIP code 92037, the code string is "37417407320999906073": 2003 MSA code: 41740 1999 MSACMSA code: 7320 1999 PMSA code: 9999 (does not apply for this ZIP) State code: 06 County code: 073
10036abc 22202abc 92037abcIn this example, the ZIP code starts in character 1 of each record. There is a trailing 3-character code following the ZIP code. The settings instruct the software to place the code string starting in column 6 between the input ZIP code and trailing characters. The output file is generated in the same folder and as the same file name with the different extension "new". In the demo application the file "c:\program files\proximity\DMIA\zips.new" is generated and contains these records: 10036356205602560036061abc 22202479008872884051013abc 92037417407320999906073abc How to Order ZIPLocator Click here to order ZIPLocator by credit card ($449).
