The total population of the district was 237,703 as of 2010. The total median age was 33.1 years compared to 33.6 years in Texas.

The population distribution by age shows 0-4 years 18,743, 5-9 years 19,399, 10-14 years 17,444, and 15-17 years 10,587.

The race/origin population distribution shows White alone 181,624, Black/American American alone 17,725, American Indian/Alaska Native alone 1,147, Asian alone 22,738, Native Hawaiian/OPI alone 122, Other race alone 6,297, Two or more races 8,050, Hispanic/Latino Origin 51,714.

Among the population 3 years and over, school enrollment demographics show a total enrollment of 67,651 that included 5,363 in preschool, 46,806 in primary and secondary and 15,482 in college.
