Use the ProximityOne annually updated national scope demographic estimates and projections to assess the current demographic situation, demographic change 5 or more years into the future, and demographic trends. This section is focused on census tract estimates and projections, but the same scope of subject matter carries through to all counties, metropolitan areas, states and the U.S. Current year estimates are for 2009 and projections are for 2014. These data may be ordered as estimates and projections only or integrated into shapefiles with ready-to-use CommunityViewer GIS projects.
Geography
The 2009 estimates and 2014 projections are for the Census 2000 geography. Boundaries exactly match all geographies updated in the Census Bureau MAF/TIGER Accuracy Improvement Project (counties, census blocks, places, roads, water features, etc.) . For coastal states, tract boundaries extending to 3-mile limit have been clipped to the state smoothed water edge boundary.
Starting with the 2010 estimates, scheduled for release in late 2010, census tract boundaries will be for the Census 2010 census tracts. Boundaries exactly match all geographies updated in the Census Bureau MAF/TIGER Accuracy Improvement Project for Census 2010 .
In all cases, the estimates and projections are provided for the U.S. and each state, CBSA, county and census tract.

Time Periods and Updates Starting with the 2010 estimates, scheduled for release in late 2010, demographic estimates and projections will make use of annually updated American Community Survey (ACS) 1-year, 3-year and 5-year estimates. The 2010 estimates will be anchored to the ACS 2005-10 5-year census tract estimates, scheduled for release in late 2010. These are the first national scope Census Bureau sourced all U.S. demographic estimates since Census 2000.
Starting with the 2011 estimates, scheduled for release in late 2011, demographic estimates and projections will make use of Census 2010 data as well as the ACS estimates. Also starting with 2011 vintage estimates and projections, the estimates and projections will be released as an annually updated time series starting with 2010. Stated differently, the late 2011 estimates and projections will include data for 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. 2012 vintage estimates and projections will expand this time frame and include annual data for the period 2010 - 2020.
Modeler and Alternative Scenario Estimates and Projections Starting with the 2011 estimates, the estimates and projections time series the Proximity Modeler software, and underlying datasets, will optionally also be available. The Modeler package enables users to replicate development of the estimates and projections under alternative scenarios.
