Census Tract by Address

In this section, you will learn to find a census tract code based on an address and examine any census tract/neighborhood using iVDA with the "Base" project.  Here we make use of census tracts as a geographic proxy for neighborhoods.

We cover some navigation fundamentals like zooming and using the searchbar.

See related interactive table.

iVDA is one part of a broader VDA GIS resource framework.  See more about VDA GIS.

In the iVDA frame below, enter an address in the searchbar and press enter.

.. enter "9451 N 84th St, Scottsdale, AZ 85258" not case sensitive, no quotes

.. the map view zooms-in and places a blue triangle at the location.

Navigate for a closer zoom-in.

In the Legend Panel at the left of the Map Window, scroll down to "Tracts Code" layer and check on.

.. tract codes appear in the Map Window.

Scroll further down to "Tracts %CVAP ACS22" layer and check on; click + expanding the intervals view.

.. CVAP: Citizen Voting Age Population

The map view now shows a census tract thematic pattern view

.. it shows patterns of %CVAP and labeled with census tract code.

Click the blue marker and see the census tract highlights in the map

.. and a demographic profile is displayed in the lower left.

.. here you can examine hundreds of demographic subject matter items.

The default active layer is the "Tracts %CVAP ACS22" layer; meaning you can click anywhere in the map now and get its profile.

.. or click any layer in the legend panel to select it the active layer.
