Knowing about economic characteristics of an area provides essential information for planning and analysis to meet policy, management and stakeholder needs. The ability to compare attributes of one area to another amplifies potential insights.

This document provides data on the characteristics of establishments, employment, and wages by type of business (NAICS2022). Data are detailed by type of ownership: Federal government (1), state government (2), local government (3) and private sector(5). Data are presented for totals, divisional level, 2-digit NAICS and 3-digit NAICS. Data are based on the Bureau of Labor Statistics Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW). This profile has been developed by the Workforce Analytics software which can be used to create this profile for any U.S. county. The Workforce Analytics software provides the framework for developing census tract level estimates of establishments, employment, and wages by type of business.
