This section illustrates use of DDA Viewer to examine neighborhood demographics in the Kalani High School Complex (HSC) area in Honolulu, HI.

The CommunityViewer (CV) GIS software (http://proximityone.com/cv.htm) site analysis tool is used to select geography for analysis in the DDA Viewer.  Census tracts are used in this application.

 

The geographic area codes are saved to a file that is then processed by DDA Viewer.

 

Using CommunityViewer GIS

 

A CV GIS project is opened.  The following project view shows a zoom-in view to a tracts in the Kalani HSC (cross-hatched).  Census 2010 census tracts are shown with green boundaries and tract code labels. K-12 schools are shown with red markers.  High School Complex areas are shown with bold boundaries and boxed HSC names as labels.

 

 

Using DDA

 

DDA Viewer is started.  The tract selections file generated using CommunityViewer is used to generate the demographic profiles.  HTML files are then created (SaveHTM button).
