Colorado School Districts Interactive Mapping
Use the interactive map in this section to view Colorado school districts (blue boundaries) in context of Google mapping. Mouseover red markers to view school district names. Use the zoom tool in upper left corner of map to zoom in or out. School district boundaries are displayed using an XML file developed using the CV XE GIS software. The XML file was developed using the Colorado school districts Census 2010 smoothed vertices shapefile. Similar XML files can be developed for any state. School Districts in Context of Other Geographies The view at right shows Colorado school districts in context of the geology. CV XE GIS software is used to blend a local shapefile (Colorado school districts) with geography located on the USGS Geology Web Map Server. The school districts shapefile uses maximum detail vertices; the Google maps application uses a smoothed vertices shapefile. Less detail in the smoothed vertices shapefile makes it feasible to develop the Google maps application. See larger view with labels and more detail.
