School District Data Book
-- demographic-economic-geographic data & analytics
-- assessing trends & patterns: forming visions of & for the future

Dimensions of the U.S. K-12 schools infrastructure .. the approximately 13,500 U.S. regular school districts operate approximately 100,000 schools and provide public educarion to approximately 50 million students. The 3.2 million K-12 public school instructional workforce salaries exceed $250 billion annually. Each school district might be thought of a "school district community."

The "school district community" shares the same geographic boundary as the school district. Yet, the school district community is broader than the schools, students and educational infrastructure. It is comprised of the total population living within the school district. The school district community includes all of the housing, transportation facilities, security, recreational resources, and businesses within the school district boundaries.

The geography of the school district is often different than the related city or county, but often similar. For many smaller cities and towns, the school district community is a hub unifying the city and locale and provides and economic core. The School District Data Book is a unique resource that enables policy-makers, leaders, researchers and wide ranging stakeholders to analyze one, many or all school district/communities.

.. see the blog -- how and why census tract demographics can be used to examine K-12 school enrollment zones.

.. try a different address or location, maybe the ZIP code "85258" or any address/location.
