Population & Components of Change. During the period 2010 to 2020, the population of Anderson County, SC changed from 187,095 (2010) to 204,353 (2020), a change of 17,258 (9.2%).

Components of population change during the 2010-2020 period were births 22,502, deaths 21,472, and net migration 16,303. The population natural increase, births less deaths, was 1,030.

The 7/1/20 model-based population estimate was 204,032 compared to the 7/1/21 model-based population estimate of 206,908. Components of change over the year were births 2,080, deaths 2,652, international migration 68, domestic migration 3,402. The net migration was 3,470. The natural increase was -572.

Income. The median household income changed from $38,851 in 2010 to $52,667, a change of $13,816 ( 35.6%).

Poverty. The number of people in poverty (all ages) changed from 34,446 in 2010 to 28,177, a change of -6,269 ( -18.2%). The poverty rate (all ages) changed from 18.7 in 2010 to 14.0, a change of -4.7 ( -25.1%).
