.. how and what factors cause congressional communities to vary within their congressional district This section reviews the scope and use of the vda_anova.gis project using the VDAW4 GIS or iVDA GIS tool. The vda_anova.gis project is derived from the vda.gis project, adding two layers both showing name "CC in CD Z-Score Outlier". Layer 1: CC in CD Z-Score Outlier -- uses layer editor to set D019Z>=2 (D019 Under 18 Yrs High) CC in CD Z-Score Outlier -- uses layer editor to set D019Z<=-2 (D019 Under 18 Yrs Low) This layer setting accounts for one of 68 demographic items available for use. The second layer is configured as follows: CC in CD Z-Score Outlier -- uses layer editor to set D024Z>=2 (D024 65 Yrs and over High) CC in CD Z-Score Outlier -- uses layer editor to set D024Z<=-2 (D024 65 Yrs and over Low) This layer setting accounts for the second of 68 demographic items available for use. See these layers and settings in this graphic and the the interactive iVDA below. ![]() This section and project are focused on CCs and CDs. The same process could be run with tracts and counties, school districts and states, and so on. The ANOVA values, z-scores, are computed between each CC and corresponding CD. This section does not provide for the actual Z-score computation. The ANOVA, z-score test, provides data applied using the algorithm to data from ACS 2023 program. We start with VDA (Visual Data Analysis) geospatial tools to analyze Congressional Communities in context of Congressional Districts. Using VDA to Examine how Congressional Communities relate to their Congressional Districts .. goto top .. the starting view shows the Orange and San Diego County area. .. use VDAW4 for full-screen view. See below for more detail. .. click in the legend panel to highlight to a name. That determines which item you are using. .. areas colored red are high extremes (z-scores with value >=2 .. areas colored blue are low extremes (z-scores with value <=-2) .. areas not colored are not extremes .. click a CC of interest and view profile in lower left panel. Or, enter your address and press Enter. What use two layers? One layer can show the relation of one item. Two layers can show the relation of two items. By using the File>Tools>Layer Editor, choose any one or two other items. An Example of Using the Layer Editor to Change Item .. goto top Suppose we want to use the first layer "CC in CD Z-Score Outlier" and use E074 SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) Households instead of D019 Under 18 Yrs. Using Layer Editor:
Result: CC 0640009 is red indicating this CC is High Extreme relative to this CD for this item.
Items included in ANOVA Shapefile (from ACS2023 Itemset1 group below) .. these items were computed in the Z-score as a percentage of population or housing
