.. congressional district information .. interpretative data analytics & tools March 2026 .. a forward look .. the United States 120th Congress is in session from Jan 3, 2027 to Jan 3, 2029. This section is focused on tools and data to examine the 120th Congressional Districts and related areas reflecting the November 2026 elections and the current situation. The Current Situation The current project includes a layer showing the proposed 120th Congressional Districts for California. The California shapefile corresponds to AB604 (Assembly Bill 604) and extends to the 3-mile limit. This layer will be expanded to include the congressional districts for the five additional states that have been redisitricted since the 119th Congressional Districts (NC, TX, OH, MO, UT). There might be more states. These changes will occur progressively and the updates reflected here durin the next month. The current 120th Congressional District VDA project also includes layers that have been updated with 2024 American Community Survey 5-year data (ACS 2024) released by the Census Bureau on January 29, 2026. Later in March 2026. It will be similar to the 119th Congressional District table. Congressional Communities .. goto top Congressional Communities are exact splits of Congressional Districts. Usually a Congressional Community (7,404) is compromised of 17-18 contigous census tracts and surrounding areas comprised of split-tracts at the census block level. Congressional Communities are developed by Congressional Communities and take into account several factors. Cogressional Communities layers are included in the GIS project. New Congressional Communities are being developed for those states having new 120th Congressional Districts. Citizen Voting Age Population .. goto top The Citizen Voting Age Population (CVAP) is not tabulated from Census 2020 as there is no question on citizenship. Data on CVAP is available down to the block group level based on the annual American Community Survey (ACS). ACS 2024. Data from ACS 2024 1-year data (areas 65,000 population and up) were released in September 2025. Data from ACS 2024 5-year data (all areas) were released in January 2026. ACS 2025. Data from ACS 2025 1-year data are expected to be released in September 2026. Data from ACS 2025 5-year data are expected released in December 2026. ACS 2025 5-year data will be the first data that include respondents from only for persons reposnding 2000 or later. Using data from ACS 2020 5-year and ACS 2025 5-year will make it possible to compute the 5-year change in CVAP for all area for the first time. Full Legend .. goto top
