September 2026 .. The 2030 Census is the 25th count of the U.S. population and housing. This section covers important new developments continue to evolve regarding Census 2030 data resources and access to and use of these data. The U.S. Census Bureau is actively laying the groundwork for the 25th decennial census. In mid-2025, the Bureau released "Baseline 1" of the 2030 Census Operational Plan, shifting the focus squarely into the Development and Integration Phase. This phase is dedicated to testing new methodologies, modernizing in-field enumeration strategies, and refining the underlying demographic data structures. Modernizing the geographic infrastructure is a central pillar of the 2030 plan. The Bureau is continuously updating its Demographic Frame, which integrates with the annual TIGER/Line shapefile releases. For analytical frameworks that rely on precise boundary data-hether rendering localized data through Leaflet and GeoJSON web components, or processing block equivalency files for desktop spatial analysis—tracking these ongoing LUCA revisions and geographic edge updates will be essential for producing accurate area projections leading into the next decade.
