Use the school district demographic profiles to extend insights into the school district community. These data tell us about school district characteristics including educational attainment, enrollment by type of educational institution/level, workforce and employment, age and gender, place of birth, citizenship status, ancestry, foreign born population, language spoken at home, income and poverty, race/ethnicity, household composition and family structure, housing value and rent, mobility, vehicles, commuting, housing stock and attributes, among others.

This section provides access to school district demographic profiles based on data from the 2009 American Community Survey (ACS). Profiles for each school district are included based on boundaries as of the 2007-08 school year. These data provide estimates centric to mid-2007 and are the first "richer demographics" updates since Census 2000 that are available for all school districts.

Updates. Updates to these data are now available (May 2013). See http://proximityone.com/sd11dp1.htm. These updated data are from the 2011 American Community Survey (ACS). The scope of subject matter is very similar to the data shown on this page. Updated data are for school district boundaries as of the 2009-10 school year and estimates centric to mid-2009. The data are organized differently; there are four pages, one for each type of profile; and there is one table for all U.S. school districts on each of the four pages. Using the different structure, query/filter on a state; then sort districts on any item by clicking header column. The initial load may take a few seconds for the table to populate. By clicking on a row/school district of interest/ those data can be copied to clipboard and then pasted in a spreadsheet.

Further updates to these data will be available in fall 2013. See http://proximityone.com/acs2012.htm for more information.

Using the Data on this Page. Four types of profiles are available: DP1, DP2, DP3, DP4. See content overview description below table. Click a school district/profile link in the table to view demographic characteristics. See usage notes regarding data presented in the profiles.
