The Echo Boomer population, those born 1981-1995 and children of Baby Boomers, is a high growth age cohort but varies widely by county as a percent of total population. Among all counties, the age 20-24 cohort varies from 33% to 1% as a percent of total population.

This section provides an interactive ranking table to examine demographic patterns by county based on estimates released by the Census Bureau (June 2013). The interactive table shows estimates of the total population by 5-year age cohort as of July 1, 2010, 2011 and 2012 for all 3,143 counties. The table is organized with a set of three records/rows for each county, each corresponding to 2010, 2011 or 2012. Each record/row also contains the percent population in each 5 year age cohort. For any county, use the table to see which cohorts are changing most rapidly in terms of population size or percent of total population.

In the initial view, and when ShowAll button is clicked, the table sort order is all counties with 2010 estimates, followed by all counties with 2011 estimates, followed by all counties with 2012 estimates. To view all three records/rows for each county, click the Code column header.

View One County. Click ShowAll Button below table. Key in the name of the county (case sensitive) in the box to right of Find in Name. Then click Find in Name button. The three annual estimates records/rows (2010, 2011, 2012) are shown for the county (any area name with the spelling as entered).

View Percentage Distributions. Following the area name, state, code and year are the total population and population by 5-year age cohort. To the right of these columns are columns showing the percent total population by 5-year age cohort. To view only the percent columns, click the Percent button below the table. Click ShowAll button to restore full table view for all areas.
