Name/Code column: area name followed by code Use Select Area to select/filter type or area or area name. - Click ShowAll button first. - Key in any part of name and click Select Area button. - Search will filter for any name with that exact, case sensitive, spelling. - Select Area values ("." characters are part of the value): ..s -- states ..co -- all counties ..m -- all CBSAs (Core-Based Statistical Area) ..m1 -- all MSAs ..m2 -- all MISAs m1ccccc -- (no dots) -- one specific MSA (code ccccc) for any geography with this MSA/CBSA code m2ccccc -- (no dots) -- one specific MISA (code ccccc) for any geography with this MISA/CBSA code the start-up/default setting is m126420 clicking Select Area button with setting m126420 selects the Houston, TX MSA and all component counties. Importance of these Data These data provide "richer" demographic-economic characteristics for the U.S., states, metros and counties. While Census 2010 provides data similar to those items in the General Demographics section, only ACS 2010 and ACS 2011 sourced data provide details on topics such as income and poverty, labor force and employment, housing value and costs, educational participation and attainment, language spoken at home, among many related items. The approximate 600 items accessible via the dataset are supplemented by a wide range of additional subject matter. ACS 2012 data become available in December 2013. Using Data from Ranking Table in a Spreadsheet Open a new spreadsheet using your preferred software/application. Copy the "table header" shown below to clipboard (only the one colored "line" below) and then paste in spreadsheet row one. Then copy (to clipboard) data rows of interest and paste to spreadsheet row two.
