North Carolina Population & Components of Change: 2010-2015

The population of North Carolina changed from 9,558,979 in 2010 to 10,042,802 in 2015 -- a change of 483,823 (5.06%). North Carolina ranked number 9 in population size among all states and D.C. in 2015. This section provides a summary of North Carolina's annual population change, and components of change, between 2010 and 2015 based on new 2015 model-based estimates released in Deeember 2015. The table presented below shows revised annual historical estimates as well as new estimates. ProximityOne integrates the annual updates into the Situation & Outlook databases and uses these data in combination with other data to develop demographic-economic projections. Using these Data
Components of change are births, deaths and migration. The state 2015 (7/1/15) estimate (10,042,802) is derived by starting with the 2014 (7/1/14) estimate (9,940,387), adding births from 7/1/14 to 6/30/15 (119,926) substracting deaths from 7/1/14 to 6/30/15 (84,610) and adding net migration from 7/1/14 to 6/30/15 (57,868).
