December 2018 .. ZIP code area 77059, located in the Houston/Harris County, TX area, is an affluent area. Use the interactive table below to see that it is ranked 558 of total 32,989 ZIP code areas based on ACS 2017 median household income ($MHI). Yet viewed in this map (expand new window to full screen; see pointer and profile at right of map) it shows a decrease in $MHI from ACS 2012 over the 5-year period, a red color pattern area. This illustrates a few important considerations (assuming the data area accurate) .. looking at one measure of change alone can be misleading, a decrease in $MHI might not mean a decrease in economic prosperity (why and which housing units became vacant?), and other considerations.

Use the interactive table below to compare/contrast ZIP Code Area demographic characteristics based on Census 2010, ACS 2012 5-year estimates and ACS 2017 5-year estimates (released December 2018). Together the ACS 2012 estimates, centric to 2010, and ACS 2017 estimates, centric to 2015, provide insights into ZIP code area demographics and change, 2010 to 2015. See more about ZIP Code areas and related sections below. ProximityOne uses these and related data to develop and analyze annual ZIP code area demographic-economic estimates and projections.

More detailed subject matter ZIP Code Area ACS2017 sections/tables are scheduled for the week of December 17, 2018, corresponding to these ACS2016 tables:
.. General Demographics . Social Characteristics
.. Economic Characteristics . Housing Characteristics
